Sunderland's Peterloo: Remembering the 1825 North Sands Massacre

Dear Fellow RMT Members

My name is Ian Parkin

With four decades of active NUS/RMT membership, I've proudly served as Workplace Representative, Assistant Branch and Secretary and currently as the RMT convenor for our Royal Fleet Auxiliary members. I've been elected to the post for two terms of office. During this period, I have stood firmly alongside members in disputes that have lasted over nine months, participated in strike action for better pay on the front line, and worked to protect jobs, local agreements, and working conditions in workplaces—being part of the pay talks at government officers at the highest levels with Treasury, MPS, Senior MOD and Cabinet Staff, alongside RMT officers, succeeding in the highest pay award in the RFA's 120 years of history.

I am putting myself forward because I believe our union needs to be visible and have accountable leadership that is rooted in the membership and determination to deliver for every grade and every sector of our maritime community.
